Cefzil

Cefprozil, sometimes spelled cefproxil and sold under the brand name Cefzil, is a cephalosporin antibiotic. It can be used to treat bronchitis, ear infections, skin infections, and other bacterial infections. It comes as a tablet and as a liquid suspension.

Par Pharmaceutical Receives Final Approval to Market Generic Cefzil® Tablets

Par to Begin Shipping Cefprozil Tablets Immediately

SPRING VALLEY, N.Y., Dec. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Par Pharmaceutical Companies, Inc. today announced that it has received final approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its Abbreviated New Drug Application for cefprozil tablets. Cefprozil is the generic version of Bristol-Myers Squibb Company's broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic Cefzil(R). Annual U.S. sales of Cefzil(R) tablets exceed $100 million, according to IMS Health.

Par will begin shipping the product immediately. Cefprozil tablets will be available in 250 mg and 500 mg strengths.
