Hexachlorophene

Hexachlorophene also known as Nabac is an antiseptic agent. The compound is a white to light tan crystalline powder which is either odorless or processes a slightly phenolic odor. Hexachlorophene is very useful in medicine as it is used as topical anti-infective and an anti-bacterial agent for soaps. It became suspected of causing Cancer in 1969 and was withdrawn from over the counter sales to young people with skin acne and it(Phisohex) became a prescription drug. It did not cause Cancer.
