One of the newest trends we've seen is beverages fortified with taurine, an amino acid. Red Devil Energy Drink, marketed by KaDian Group, New York, features distinctive package graphics of a super-hero-looking devil on the can. Inside, the product contains more than the usual caffeine and sugar for a boost. It also includes vitamins C, [B.sub.6], and [B.sub.12], plus taurine.
The product is sold in supermarkets as well as health and fitness clubs, dance clubs, convenience stores and specialty markets. Several of these types of drinks have migrated across markets to grocery store shelves - watch for more to do so in the future.
