MELAS

MELAS is an acronym for Mitochondrial myopathy, Encephalopathy, Lactic Acidosis, Stroke-like episodes. MELAS is one of the family of mitochondrial cytopathies, which also include MERRF, and Leber's Hereditary Optic Atrophy. A feature of these diseases is that they are caused by defects in the mitochondrial genome which is inherited purely from the female parent. The disease can manifest in both sexes.

Jones Lang LaSalle renews alliance with HSBC Bank - Brief Article

Jones Lang LaSalle announced that it has renewed its alliance with HSBC Bank USA for facilities management services for 1.9 million SF of retail, administrative, and data center properties in Upstate New York and several locations in California. Additionally, the alliance has been expanded to include facility management services for approximately 2.9 million SF across 240 properties in the Metropolitan New York, Capital District, Hudson Valley and Long Island regions in New York, 8 properties in the Miami/Dade County Florida region as well as 2 properties in Philadelphia.

We feel confident they will provide state-of-the art solutions for our properties in Florida and Downstate New York," said Mark Melas, executive vice president of property services North America for HSBC. "Their reputation in real estate outsourcing in general, and facility management in particular, coupled with their banking sector experience, makes them uniquely qualified to achieve the significant cost reductions and portfolio efficiences we require."
