Many folk remedies promise to relieve morning sickness, but the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends only two treatments. Taking vitamin [B.sub.6], or [B.sub.6] with the antihistamine Unisom, should be the first-line response when morning sickness starts. And taking a daily multivitamin from the time of conception may decrease the severity of any potential morning sickness. T. Murphy Goodwin, M.D., chief of maternal-fetal medicine at the University of Southern California and the author of the guidelines, notes that other treatments show modest effectiveness: eating ginger, having several small meals instead of three big ones and eating something before getting up in the morning. An over-the-counter acupressure wristband helps some women.
