Enhanced with the delightful illustrations by Marcy Ramsey and now in its second edition, Sammy The Elephant & Mr. Camel is the collaboratively written picturebook story by Jayce C. Mills and Richard J. Crowley specifically written to help young children to overcome the problem of bed wetting. In the allegorical story, a young elephant named Sammy has difficulty holding and carrying buckets of water. Mr. Camel offers him guidance: "You just have to trust you can do it. Some things take a little more time to learn than others, Sammy. And you have time to learn that now." As Sammy grows and practices, he learns new abilities that he can put to good use when a fire breaks out and he has to carry and hold water, then use it at just the right spot to put the fire out. The final pages of Sammy The Elephant & Mr. Camel offer detailed information for parents, by children's author and psychologist Jane Annunziata, Psy.D., about when to recognize urinary incontinence as a problem in children, and what can be done about it, including the importance of first ruling out infections or similar problems. Very highly recommended.
