DePaul lands Crane star Thompson
Crane basketball star Lorenzo Thompson said he will sign a letter of intent to play for DePaul next season.
The 6-8 center/forward led Crane to the Public League championship and averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds his senior year. Thompson, a three-time All-City selection, was leaning toward DePaul but did not sign early because he wanted to test the waters.
A lot of schools came after me when they heard that I did not commit early,'' Thompson said. I was slowed because of injury early in the season and many of those schools backed off, then came back at me hard when I started playing well later in the season.
DePaul stayed with me the whole way. That let me know they were really sincere in their efforts to sign me."
