Stability of valganciclovir in extemporaneously compounded liquid formulations. Henkin CC, Griener JC, Ten Eick AP. Am J Health Syst Pharm 2003;60:687-690.
The authors describe a simple procedure for preparing a 30- and 60-mg/mL oral suspension of valganciclovir hydrochloride using crushed tablets and a 1:1 mixture of Ora-Plus and Ora-Sweet. They provide evidence of satisfactory chemical and physical stability of the suspension when stored for a minimum of 35 days at 4 deg C. The authors do not recommend preparing valganciclovir suspension using a vehicle of water-cherry syrup because of its unreliable suspending ability.
