Exelon Corporation recently announced that it has sold more than 1 million megawatt-hours (MWh) of wind energy.
Exelon noted that the company has 20-year agreements to purchase power generated from the Mill Run and Somerset wind farms, which are located southeast of Pittsburgh, PA, the Waymart Wind Energy Center located near Scranton, PA, and the Mountaineer Wind Energy Center in Thomas, WV.
According to Exelon, since coming online in October 2001, the Mill Run and Somerset wind farms have produced about 250,000 MWh of electricity, while Mountaineer, which began commercial operations in January 2003, has produced approximately 500,000 MWh. Exelon said Waymart, which came online at the end of 2003, has produced about 300,000 MWh.
