ISLAMABAD, Dec. 19 Kyodo
Anti-Taliban Afghan forces have withdrawn from the Tora Bora cave complex in eastern Afghanistan after it became clear the area was clear of all Arab fighters, including Islamic militant Osama bin Laden, Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) reported.
''There are no Arabs in the Tora Bora area. We have withdrawn our troops from Tora Bora to Jalalabad and only some native groups might be there,'' the Pakistan-based news agency quoted Cmdr. Mohammad Zaman, a key commander of the so-called Eastern Alliance who heads Ningarhar Province's eighth Afghan Army Corps, as saying.
A spokesman for the same commander told AIP that he is sure than Islamic militant and accused terrorist Osama bin Laden is no longer in Afghanistan.
