Birmingham City have had to re-arrange their first home game of the season against Millwall following police advice. The game has been moved back to 19 August with a noon kick-off.
Two Romanian players, midfielder Adrian Neaga and goalkeeper Cristian Buturuga, have tested positive for the steroid metenolone. The duo, both from the Romanian club Arges Pitesi, tested positive in May after their match with Rapid Bucharest.
German teams in the top two divisions will be allowed to field five non- European players next season instead of the previous limit of three. An assembly of the 36 professional clubs in Germany voted for the change at a meeting in Frankfurt this week.
The Premier League has secured a deal believed to be worth around pounds 35m with the mobile phone firm Hutchison 3G for football rights. The deal gives the firm the rights to provide Premier League content to mobile phones and other hand-held devices until July 2004. In the future customers will be able to see footage of match highlights on hi-tech mobile phones.
