Ceftriaxone
Ceftriaxone (trade name Rocephin®) is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. Ceftriaxone is frequently used in combination with azithromycin for the treatment of community-acquired pneumonia. It is also a choice drug for treatment of bacterial meningitis. Rocephin is manufactured by Hoffmann-La Roche pharmaceuticals. The usual starting dose is 2 grams IV daily. It is one of the newest antibiotics on the market and is particularly effective against respiratory infections.
Ceftriaxone can be used to cover gram-positive organisms, but this drug does not cover Staphylococcus Aureus. For this organism, nafcillin is best to use.
Side Effects include:

- vomiting
